CSM Council

Command Sergeant Major Mark T. Council was born in Fayetteville, N.C. He joined the Army in December 1985 and reported to Fort Sill, Okla. where he completed Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training and was awarded the MOS of 13B10, Cannon Crewmember. CSM Council's overseas duty assignments include B BTRY 1/15th FA BN Camp Stanley, Korea; B BTRY 4/11th ABN, FA BN Fort Richardson, Alaska. CSM Council's stateside duty assignments include 2nd Brigade Eastern Region Cadet Command Fort Dix, N.J., I Corps Staff Fort Lewis, Wash., A BTRY 1/37th FA Fort Lewis, Wash., B BTRY 3/319th AFAR Fort Bragg, N.C., E CO 2/28 INF BN, Fort Jackson, S.C.


Command Sergeant Major Council has attended numerous military schools which included: United States Army Sergeants Major Academy; First Sergeant Course; Battle Staff Course; Advance Non-Commissioned Officer Course; Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course; Primary Leadership Development Course; Airborne School; Air Assault School; U.S. Army Drill Sergeant School; Hazardous Material Course; Equal Opportunity Course; and the Master Fitness Course.


His civilian education includes a Master of Business Administration from Trident University and a Bachelor of Science from Troy University.


Command Sergeant Major Council's awards include the Bronze Star Medal (1 OLC), Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (5 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (10 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), NATO Defense Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal (w/Bronze Star), Korea National Defense Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 4), Overseas Ribbon (Numeral 4), Southwest Asia Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism-Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism-Service Medal, Army Service Medal, Drill Sergeant Badge, Combat Action Badge, Airborne Badge, and the Air Assault Badge.  CSM Council is a member of the Honorable Order of ST. Barbara and a Combat Spur recipient.
